Computer Specialist

My name is Bruce Perkins, Inventing Minds is my website. Here you will find projects I have worked on or created on my own. There is a wide variety of content here from Windows Phone Applications, PSP games, and website modifications. I am always learning new technologies and creating new projects. Everything you will find on this site is a direct result of my work. Even this website was setup and hosted by me. I will be adding more content like code samples and some projects to the site. Consultant

Years of helping others with projects and computer solutions has made me an excellent consultant in the field. I am able to identify areas of need and come up with solutions to problems. I can recommend hardware, software solutions, and give time required estimates. I can also assist in training of users. I have been working professionally as a consultant for the last couple of years, working with health care and automobile companies. Administrator

Being the administrator of this website has taught me a lot over the years. I have preformed many duties such and backups, updates and other management. I have overcome difficulties learning new systems and software and writing documentation on it for use by others. I have managed a small team of people that ranged in skills from programming, graphic design, and audio recording. I have also set up and used team collaboration systems such as Team Foundation and GIT repositorys to manage members and assets.

Developer

Being a developer I have learned many different programming languages such as C#, C/C++, Java, PHP and others. For many types of platforms that include Windows, Linux, Android. I started making home-brew applications for the Sony PlayStation Portable (PSP). I created a wake on lan (WOL) application for the PSP that could remote start a computer from the portable device. Then I created a tic-tac-toe game with an artificial intelligence (AI) competitor. From there I created a Sudoku puzzle game for the PSP that used colors instead of traditional numbers.

Database Manager

Developing application often requires a database and some knowledge of how they work. In the years I have been developing I learned quite a bit about databases and how they work. I am very acquainted with the MS SQL, and MYSQL variations of database engines and management tools. I can use the user interface (UI) or write Structured Query Language (SQL) scripts by hand. In my experience I have worked along side some very good database managers and picked up quite a few tips and tricks.

Graphics Designer

Applications, web or desktop need some sort of graphics or they will be very plain and boring so it was necessary to be able to make custom graphics for many projects. I have created a variety of graphics for applications and web, some are very simple like textures other were a little more complex like logos. I have taken classes on Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. I have been using G.I.M.P., GNU image manipulation program for free for many years as well. G.I.M.P. is a very flexible tool that can be used to do just about anything Photoshop can but for free.
